Well folks I am so excited! I am more excited than 5 BIG KEV’s! God rest his soul!
I mean, I haven’t been this excited about an online advertising concept in a long, long time!
I stumbled across something totally unique, and I would go as far to say almost revolutionary in online advertising.
OK before we get you all to excited let’s get back to boot camp basics for a few secs. As online shop owners, online merchants and online marketers we all know that the most important aspect of selling, especially selling online, is to create the desire for that tyre kickin’, bandwidth suckin’, page browsin’ web site visitor to become a buying customer, it’s why we are in business, right? So, we need to be actively doing at every opportunity is creating the desire for all your web site visitors to find out more about your products or services.
We need to be constantly looking for new and exciting ways in creating the desire to get a person to act on what you are offering. This is commonly referred to as ‘a call to action’, and you need to do this before they cool off and wander aimlessly on to another web site. Finally in order to turn that tyre kickin’, bandwidth suckin’, page browsin’ web site visitor into a loyal life time customer you need to give them a product, service, or better yet, an offer that will benefit them, one they will be ‘as happy as Larry’ with. So happy in fact, that they can’t wait to tell all their friends, family and colleagues about the product or offer and where they can get it from.
If you didn’t know before, here is the bottom line online marketing drill; Create the desire, to call to action, to tell all their buds about your web site and about the fantastic products and offers you have! Simple, right?
Well, if it’s that simple, you and I wouldn’t be here! We would both be on a secluded tropical paradise watching the pristine white capped waves rolling in on a the sun bleached sands, sitting in a bubbling spa next to Sir Richard Branson sipping on an endless supply of exotic cocktails, being waited on hand on foot by muscle bound, guitar strumming topless waiters and being fanned with tropical emerald green palm leaves by beautiful island maidens, while other people are back at home working at running our business for us. Cha-Ching! ***DREAM BUBBLE BURSTS*** … sorry to burst your bubble but I had to bring you back to reality before you got lost in a world of total recall!
Do you often wonder why do you have hundreds of web site visitors and only a mere pittance of web site sales?
You have quality products at reasonable prices, but the sales just don’t happen? Notice I didn’t say ‘cheapest prices’, personally those that heavily discount are losing a lot more than they think and have very little to tempt or tease web site visitors into becoming buying customers, but more on that a little later.
I am pretty sure I know what your answer to this next question is going to be, but as the devil’s advocate I have to ask;
Have you ever thought about getting your web site visitors curious about your products?
They have opened the gates to releasing the emotion by visiting your web site all it needs to be is drawn out more and enraged!
Curiosity is a very powerful kind of desire, it has gotten rid of a lot of cats over the years, sorry, no offense to those cat lovers amongst us, and appeal is a medium strength desire, but don’t under estimate any secondary emotions as they can be a formidable enticing force when used to bolster curiosity.
Have you ever tried using both curiosity and appeal to inspire desire?
Have you ever tried to temp and tease your web site visitors without being intrusive?
What if I told you there is a relatively new online advertising medium that creates curiosity and appeal, while at the same time, tempts and teases without being intrusive?
Would you be interested in finding out more about it?
The correct answer here was…
(Imagine Meg Ryan in the cafe scene with Billy Crystal in the movie When Harry Met Sally) …
Yes, YES, YES!!!
So I take you’ll have what I’m having?
If your online sales are inconsistent, few and far between or non-existent what have you got to lose? It sounds like a darn good plan to try to me.
Well folks, if you are mildly curious as to what I have been dribbling on about for the past few minutes, your curiosity has just paid off! Not in a cat like way, I am talking about the tiny little spinning hypno-wheel behind the page curl at the top right hand of the page, cute huh?
Did you notice it?
Did you move your mouse over it?
I am hoping you said yes to at least one of these questions otherwise I am in big trouble right about now! LOL
This is what I got so excited about earlier today! If you haven’t already done so go have a look at it, move your mouse over the small page curl and see what happens. I’ll still be here when you get back…
la la la… oh! Back already?
So how did you go?
What do you think?
Impressive? Novel? Different? Gotta Have it?
I am not sure what you felt, but that’s exactly what I felt when I first saw it in action earlier today. I was so impressed I just had to have it so I bought in to the program and within minutes I had it spinning, and curling, and gently floating on 3 of my web sites. Do you remember Victor Kiam? (Deceased: 29/05/2001), He was nick named "The Remington man", had an ad on TV in 1979, and he said something along the lines of "I liked the shaver so much, I bought the company." Well I didn’t go to quite that extreme, but it was one of the few programs I purchased with out doubt, reservation, hesitation or concern.
So let’s evaluate what is happening.
As the page curl stands in its tiny flowing state, it is non-intrusive to web site visitors, the spinning hypno-wheel and the movement of the page curl drifting in the breeze catches the curious and inquisitive eye, both the funky animated flowing page curl and spinning hypno-wheel are both cute, interesting and ‘a-peel-ing’. The biggest surprise of all is when a mouse pointer is moved onto the page curl. An enlarged reflective page curl gently peels back exposing a truly amazing amount of ‘web page advertising real estate’.
What makes this valuable advertising real estate?
The visitor has discovered it all by themselves by way of interaction and will naturally be compelled to read and absorb the offer, product info or ad more so than if an ad was thrust upon them.
Why?
Because the visitor caused the action, they decided to interact with the hypno-wheel and page curl, it was their choice. The ad wasn’t pushed on to them, it wasn’t popped under them, nor was it inserted on to them. This ‘Stone Age’ type of intrusive banner and forceful advertising has well and truly had its day and is about as effective as clubbing a dinosaur into submission with a toothpick.
Getting back to the exciting interactive ads.
This amazing eye-catching technology is called ‘PeelAwayAds‘ and was developed by Harris Fellman and Richard Osterudea. The new version of PeelAwayAds, V3.0, includes a lot of nice new features over the standard ‘PeelAwayAds’ I have spinning up there in the left hand corner. I would off installed the new version but I just couldn’t wait to try PAA out and tell you about it! I told ya I was excited!
The standard version takes the least amount of time to install and was real easy to set-up, only a minute or so per site and even less time installing it on the Affiliate Alliance Academy, when using the included generic graphic packs. Installation time will depend on the type of web site you put them on (Dynamic or Static) and how many pages you have to put the code on that are static. I still need to make a minor adjustment just to bring the images across a little from the left hand scroll bar so the ‘click here’ words are visible, but apart from that it was a really easy and pain free installation process.
The latest version of Peel Away Ads has a lot of amazing features and Harris and Richard are offering limited time bonus which you can learn more about on the official PeelAwayAds web site. All I want to do now is to get the new version of PeelAwayAds installed and earning its keep on my shopping web sites!
Honestly, what you have just seen, what you interacted with is, and what I have told you about PeelAwayAds is only the tip of the iceberg. This valuable ‘advertising real estate’ can be used for anything your heart desires. If you have a large shopping web site it doesn’t take much for new products to get lost amongst the not so new, and new item listings can only show so much. PeelAwayAds is perfect for getting an amazing amount of attention for up to 4 new product you would like to feature in the hidden ad space in a rotating sequence. Another great attraction that I personally liked was that it looks like it is part of your web site not some daggy tacked after thought or ‘your the 1 millionth lucky visitor’ annoying flashing banners then no one ever click on, not unless they have been hiding under a rock for the past 5 years.
Other features include; PeelAwayAds can be set to disappear after a certain amount of time, this is perfect for session only or limited time ‘Buy Within the next XX number of minute’ offers, one time show ads that are not seen again once the visitor leaves the page they are on, and more. You can have the PeelAwayAds open the target web page, coupon offer or product info in a new window, or in the same window. You can have PeelAwayAds act like a love sick puppy and follow the customer all the way up and down the side of the screen as they scroll and stroll your product lists. Some may find this a little annoying but like most of the funky PeelAwayAd features, it can be turned on or off via the script configuration settings.
The PAA package includes PeelAwayAds V3.0, the standard version of PeelAwayAds V1.0, bonus generic graphic files and animation files all designed to get you up and running in the shortest possible time. Instructional videos and PDF files show how to install and configure the main script while the 100+ bonus graphic files will keep you browsing your PeelAwayAds graphic folders till the early hours of the morning. Well, maybe not quite that long, but you get the general idea.
Tomorrow I’ll sit down and install the new version on two of my online shops and report back to let you know how it performs over the next week. If you are prepared to sit around and wait that’s cool, but I am telling you now, as honest as the day is long, if you procrastinate and don’t get this new technology on your web site ASAP your competitors will, and you would of lost another hot off the press competitive leading edge.
You can find out more about PeelAwayAds at the official web site, or funnily enough by clicking on the ‘hypno-wheel page curl’ at the top off the page.
…and to Harris and Richard, if you ever get a chance to drop by, I just want to take this opportunity to say;
“You guys are certainly way ahead of your time with this little baby,
THANK YOU, CONGRATULATIONS and WELL DONE!”
Till next time, happy selling!
PS: The ‘hypno-wheel page curl’ is just what I refer to it as. I am sure there is a more apt technical or politically correct IT term or descriptions for it. But ‘hypno-wheel page curl’ will suffice for this editorial.
